Our guests love Holly Cottage for its tranquillity - the relaxing sounds of water and the views of woods and rolling hills. They also appreciate its sunny conservatory and secluded patio garden. It is right on the edge of the quiet conservation village of Wellow, overlooking a medieval packhorse bridge (just right for playing Pooh Sticks).
The Cottage is ideal for four(with two double bedrooms) - but can accommodate a family of six, with a comfortable double sofabed.
Wellow is off main roads. The cottage is on a side road with little traffic, and has dedicated parking for one car. The Fox & Badger serves great meals, and the community-run village shop sells local produce. Excellent walking and cycling routes and a local riding stable.
Wellow has a lovely 14th century church and the 7,000 year old Stoney Littleton long barrow, the best preserved in Western Europe.
Lots of safe things for children; paddling in the stream; badminton; pony rides in the lanes; Longleat and the Cheddar caves are within 30 minutes drive. Several fine National Trust properties at hand. A good centre for a family holiday. There's no light pollution at night!
Holly Cottage has full oil central heating, and the rental charge includes heating and lighting, bedlinen and a free basket of logs. WiFi connection to the Internet. Thick stone walls keep the interior cool in the summer. The well-furnished patio has a BBQ.

There is a good library of holiday reading, local maps and guides and a collection of films on video, and music CDs. The TV has digital Freeview and video; there is CD, DVD and hi-fi. A large file has details of 60 places to visit. Connection to the Internet is provided through WiFi. | | |
The conservatory is comfortably furnished and is useful as a second living room. It receives sun from breakfast to sundown and is warm on a sunny day in winter! |
