From this welcoming, comfortable base you can explore Hadrian's Wall and many Roman sites, nearby there are bronze age remains. Circular walks based on and around Hadrian's Wall are many and varied and guided walks are also available.
You can have carriage-driving lessons or hire a beautiful carriage for a special occasion a short distance away.
There are beautiful gardens open to the public and a bonsai centre.
Lots of grand castles, bastile houses and churches are among other historic buildings which you can visit.
If you enjoy artistic pursuits you'll find, within a few miles several centres where various forms of art classes, photography and workshops are available. There are also various gardening and cookery courses given in the area.
Golf courses, fishing and shooting clay pigeons are among some of the many pursuits available locally.

The kitchen has all the usual features: electric 4 ring stove with oven and grill, micro-wave, toaster, kettle, fridge and small freezer. Hand-thown stone ware, glasses etc. and a full range of saucepans and implements. There is a table and folding chairs. One radiator.
Living Room
A large room with secondary glazing on the original stained glass windows. Furniture includes a three piece suite, dining table and six chairs, sideboard, bookcase full of books. There is an electric organ, a pot-belly stove, radio and television. French doors open out onto your car-parking space and the garden beyond.
Other Rooms
The bedrooms are upstairs under the original church beams with conservation velux windows looking out over beautiful countryside. The 3rd bedroom is just a sleeping gallery with a curtain for privacy.
